Championship Leader Cassidy On His ‘Rollercoaster’ Season 10

29-year-old Nick Cassidy secured his second victory of the season in Berlin, marking a significant milestone in his Formula E career.

The first half of the season has been a whirlwind journey for Cassidy since joining Jaguar TCS Racing at the start of Season 10. Teaming up with long-time friend and former teammate Mitch Evans, Cassidy’s transition to the new colors started strong, with podium finishes in Diriyah.

However, Formula E’s unpredictable nature was evident as Cassidy faced setbacks in São Paulo and Tokyo, followed by a zero-point DNF in Misano. Nevertheless, Cassidy bounced back with a string of podiums, claiming victories in Italy, Monaco, and two in Germany, placing him at the top of the standings with seven podiums and 140 championship points.

Cassidy’s remarkable victory in Berlin, despite starting 21st on the grid, showcased his strategic prowess and determination. Reflecting on his unexpected rise to the championship lead, Cassidy remarked, “I was not expecting it, but it’s always a really nice thing to hear. It’s a fantastic day when it’s like that. We take them. Just awesome.”

Acknowledging the highs and lows of Formula E, Cassidy emphasized the importance of perseverance and teamwork, stating, “Days like Misano [where I didn’t finish] can happen as well. That’s part of the game; it makes us smile and it makes us frown but we push on and enjoy the roller coaster.”

Meanwhile, Cassidy’s teammate, Mitch Evans, narrowly missed out on podium finishes in both Berlin races, settling for fourth and sixth places in Rounds 9 and 10, respectively. Despite the challenges, Evans expressed satisfaction with his performance, highlighting the competitive nature of Formula E racing and the importance of strategic management in peloton-style races.
